A New Place

This post is from a new place, a new computer and a new environment.

There are no longer hills with vegetation, no cool breezes in the evenings, not every face I see, I can recognise, neither is there a feeling that ‘Yeah, I’ve been here forever!’

Not that I am complaining. Just that the air is so much more charged wih change – and more is coming, I know it; I can even feel it.

I am now in a place where I grew up, which is so very different from the place I have been living in for these past seven years. Muscat, as i know it, will never change. The same white smallish buildings, spotless roads, no people on the streets, a few new flyovers and its characteristic ‘chubhti jalti garmi’. I have not been here for the past two years, and although there is the ecstasy of being home, this place feels foreign.

Another thing, I have also turned 23. It was one of the nicest birthdays I have had. I remember the lavish spreads at the parties my parents had for me, when I was a child. Each birthday was an uproar – of a new outfit, a cake design, return gifts and so much more. This one too, was just with Ma-Baba, and a family friend. Ma had done up my whole room with balloons, and it took my eyes quite a while to adjust to those, and the carpetless room, which ensured that the bed (which has wheels) keeps moving across the whole room now. Cake from my favourite Al Bustan Bakery and dinner from Grill House, made everything perfect! Not to forget the drink that Ma made me – Vodka, Blue curacao and Lemonade =D

Will put up pictures in a while. Just now I am just getting used to the new 21.5 inch Samsung flat monitor that Baba just bought! Its like it is almost a television set, just very nice looking!
