Bound by waves

Almost every time that one turns to any social networking forum, marriage is on the block!

Friends from school, college, work are all getting hitched! One ceremony that grabbed my eye recently was a work colleague who got married at The Taj, Kovalam. I wasn’t able to attend but from the pictures, I was blown away by how beautiful the sea can look as a background and wondered why I hadn’t thought of it before. Although, destination weddings have become the ‘thing’ and the more lavish, the better is the mindset – something I’m not very agreeable with. However, the seaside has increasingly developed as a location to get wed, a proposition that really excites me.

Coming to weddings, a very dear friend from college is getting married in Delhi this April. It feels like just the other day we were 17 and walking to college under umbrellas in a very rainy Viman Nagar, Pune – how time flies. I cannot wait to attend, and of course photograph her big day. Also, Ankita’s planning to get married by end of this year or early 2013. These are the ones I know of yet, although I’m sure various lesser-known bombs will drop soon 🙂

Getting back to beach weddings, I remember the Hollywood flick 27 Dresses where the protagonists get married on the seashore and the decorations are minimalistic and subtle. I guess I’d like something like that.

Although I know I’m pretty far off and it might be a good number of years until the time I’d even have to think about such things, but all this marriage talk around me makes the imagination wander!
