12 | 12: Twelve Learnings

Big year for learning, this one.
Instances, people, books, experiences – teach. Over nine years of living out of home taught me much. Coming back home has its own share of things for me to learn.
These are things I probably knew, but needed reminding:
  • Invest in yourself. Take time to sit alone and get used to your own company. You will be amazed by the way it will feel.
  • If people really want to keep in touch with you, they will always find a way.
  • The world is selfish. There is no one appointed to protect your interests. So keep the superhero suit handy.
  • You can never have it all.
  • For some, you will always be an option, not a priority. Take a call and decide if you are okay with it. If you aren’t, distance yourself from them.
  • Sometimes prayers are answered, so keep at it.
  • Reading empowers. Never let go of the habit.
  • Comparison is the thief of joy. Envy is an evil that creeps into one’s heart. Make conscious efforts to not weigh yourself against what others have/do.
  • Situations change, people change. Sometimes they change together. It seems really awful when that happens, but they will pass. Better times are in store.
  • If there is something you dream of, you should do everything in your power to make it come true.
  • If you are not happy with reflection in the mirror, rest assured that no one else will be too. So take a step, make a change.
  • Hard work might not pay instantly – but with a honest heart, keep at it.
At the end of what was an extremely constructive and fun series, I’m busying myself with my year-end resolution post!

  2. @ Aiyo: You're welcome to use the ones you like. And thank you for the kind words, always. Much love!

@ Akshay: πŸ™‚ I know. Just thought of them, and then went into a zone where I poured out my heart. They seem to be true, these learnings of mine! Photo bhi laga lena on the door? :p

  3. #2 & #3 took a long time for me to realize, and even longer to come to terms with it. It hurt. :/

But I guess sometimes we all need to accept some hard truths.

  4. @IceMaiden: Hard truths, many of these. But better know them, than let them catch us unaware – no? πŸ™‚
