Winter Wonderland

It’s Christmas!

I might be one of the few people on the planet at their work desks today, but I will let nothing dampen the spirit! I’m going to listen to the Christmas radio, sing along loudly, walk down to the bakery for some plum cake and go back home to watch Home Alone 1, 2, 3 and then Love Actually – in that order!

For now, unable to contain the Christmas in the air, here are my top six favourite Christmas songs – that can cheer me up and get me thinking of a white Christmas, with peppermint striped candy and real snow.

“Let It Snow!” by Dean Martin
Just close your eyes and you’ll be transported to a magical place
“Deck the halls” by the American Boy Choir
Imagine walking into a gigantic church with this being sung on Christmas eve
“Have yourself a merry little Christmas”  by Ella Fitzgerald
That hit of jazz, that voice and that promise of miracles that Christmas brings
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” by Andy Williams
He mentions marshmallows, what can I say….
“Silver bells” by Jim Reeves
Because I will always love Jim Reeves. His voice is like hot chocolate on a cold winter day. With whipped cream..

And lastly, to add a bit of a skip in your step today…

“Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms
Home Alone series, I owe you so much!

Someday soon, I’d like to be in front of the giant Rockefeller Christmas tree and hear ‘Deck the Halls’ resonate from a cathedral nearby.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Also, ‘Happy Birthday’ to one of the nicest people I know. I believe it is no coincidence that he is born on Christmas day. Akshay – much love, always 🙂
