Nothing’s Impossible

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had a guardian angel? A Cinderella-sort-of fairy godmother who could make wishes come true? It seems that nothing is too far from reality in today’s times. I was introduced today to a new social networking application called Impossible.com. Backed by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, and model Lily Cole it is being presented as an altruism-based social network that work towards making people’s dreams and wishes come true. In any way that they can.  Need a travel buddy to go Easter Island? Wish.  Know how to throw the best hen parties? Say you can.  Had a wish answered? Thank. I can assume what most people’s…

Real Beauty

I’ve never been a huge fan of Dove’s products, save for a body lotion with sparkle in it (Yes, it can make you feel like a Cullen for while), but I’ve always followed their ‘Real Beauty’ social campaign as I knew that Edelman Digital was behind it. But one of their adverts I came across today, made me think about beauty. If you haven’t already seen it – here it is: I know so many people, who – to me are absolutely beautiful. Twitter has increasingly become a significant part of social existence. From discovering breaking news to discussing meaningful things in 140 characters, it is a fabulous platform that has been a constructive vehicle to spend time in airports, waiting rooms and all those million other places where you’re bored to death. Like Gmail often says “Important, mainly because of the people in the conversation” – Twitter is fun because of some of the comical, the sarcastic, the overtly serious, the perpetually random and the others as well.  The twelve I like best are: @TheHobbitMovie – the official Twitter handle of Peter Jackson’s three-part mega series. It is the first to share insights into…

Magic in the Mundane.

Do you ever think that social media might just be creeping into our minds sneakily and filing it with poisonous thoughts? Do you sigh quietly, looking at the very many albums of your Facebook ‘friend’ who just sky-dived in Maui, took macro pictures in Petra, ate scones in Central London or posed with the snow at Jungfrau? Do you sometimes feel that you would better off, unwired? Does it ever occur to you that everyone in the world is having more fun than you are? Are you bothered by the fact that the Gujarati boy in school who couldn’t speak a word of English and shied away from anything that…

Pinning Away!

When I first heard of Pinterest, my first reaction was that of being wary. Just like I had been distrustful of Facebook when it had arrived. On an impulse, I signed up almost a week ago and I’ve been ecstatic ever since. The network is like something I have always maintained in my personal computer – I still have folders which read Movie Posters, Interesting Advertisements, Shoes, Food Photography and Places I’d like to visit before I die – among many others. Here, I would store some of my favourite images and browse through them later. For those interested in the theory – Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing…
