Day 2# What do you know. What have you learnt.

This post is supposed to be about something that I know a lot about or am good at. At the cost of shedding the modesty – apart from my job (which I used to be and am, quite excellent at), I have varied interests.

And thanks to Wikipedia and my reading addiction, I happen to learn a lot of things.

I’d like this opportunity to talk about one of them, in specific.

One of my biggest loves are ancient civilizations. My enthusiasm sees no limits when the subject are Egypt, Mesopotamia, Indus Valley, the native American tribes – the Incas, Mayans and the Aztecs.

In the spring of 2003, my parents and I travelled to Egypt for a week. Never have I been as intrigued by the history and culture of a place, as I was there. Almost everything on the Giza plateau was created almost 3500 years before our time. And they still stand there, witnesses to our age of advancements, while they hold so many secrets we might never know of.

For the longest time, I have found myself fascinated by archaeology. But in no manner do I feel equipped to talk about it to other people, because even after my extensive reading, documentary watching and participating in online forums, I feel I know very little.

Someday, I plan to explore the possibility of studying archaeology.  Maybe then I will write something informative. Until then, I’ll just look up travel options to Machu Picchu.
