Change is here to stay

And just when I thought that I was finally getting used to our hill campus, the city of Pune, the fact that one should not bother at all about anything happening at all in college, apart from the gossip of course!

The day before, my road transporter friends from GATI came and picked up my suitcase, trunk, sack, shoe rack and 2 cartons which are labelled ‘Destination Gurgaon’ and another suitcase and Baba’s old wooden table, ‘Destination Kolkata’. Two crisp thousand rupee notes less from my wallet, my room and cupboard looking stripped, the happy thought of not having to lug a heavy bag to Muscat, and a deep sigh later, I was thinking of change.

# I was unhappy when i was shifted from room 528 (the fifth floor) in the girls hostel, to room 101 (bottom basement); but the room, the view and the people around were such a welcome change.

# I had it all planned in my head, that I was going to start looking for a post PG job in the Middle East, and suddenly I was headed to Edelman, Gurgaon. What kind of change this is, I am yet to find out.

# I have always been dead loyal to Airtel, as a service provider. Lavale made me take up Idea; it was not that bad, apart from service messages like ‘Hot supermodels ki photo download kijiye, for Rs.30/month only’. Now, I will change back to Airtel, once in Delhi.

# The international airport in Oman has now become ‘Muscat International Airport’ from ‘Seeb International Airport’. My small desert country, is truly becoming international.

# At restaurants, I am known for ordering the same thing always. Just have this loyalty thing, and the fact that I don’t really want to take a chance with food. Went out with Richa and Swetha for this movie and lunch thing. Watched LSD, ate at Arthur’s Theme. To be happy with myself, I ordered the standard Strawberry Cheesecake at Sweet Chariot, but went out of my way to order something different at Arthur’s Theme. Got myself a ‘Beatrix’ (Chicken fillet stuffed with mushroom and olives, topped with a delicately flavored cream sauce, served with steamed vegetables) Swetha had a ‘Barras’ (Fish fillets stuffed with spinach and cottage cheese topped with pimento sauce, served with steamed vegetables) and Richa ordered the ‘Karl II’ (Sautéed spinach and corn croquettes, shallow fried and served with a special sauce) – it is a french eatery, hence the fancy names.
Not to mention, the drinks were awesome too!

# At home in Muscat, my mother got the carpets removed. It is strange to even imagine the house I lived in for around 17 years, without those warm fuzzy carpets.

# Change has gotten into my life cycle too. I now sleep early, and wake up early and have breakfast. Several people are often stunned, and keep staring. Swetha’s first ping on gtalk in the morning is ‘Wow! Ye kya ho gaya!’

I am kind of getting the bit that a lot of changes are yet to come, and there is this feeling that it might just be a lot of fun.

Change is definitely here to stay.
