All of us have different definitions of peace A feeling that we probably cannot share I’ve always wondered how it would be to live underwater Minus the diving gear and all Then I stumbled across this video of the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium And as I watched it on full screen It felt like zen  I have been very vocal about my opinion of the captivity of marine animals, and I think that it is awful that beautiful creatures as whale sharks, among others should have to spend the entirety of their lives in a closed tank, swimming in circle – going nowhere. The objective of this post is not to promote…

Where do you come from? What do you look back to? What will you always remember? After a lot of years have passed. Let us go back. To the times. To the dreams. To the careless laughter. To bruised knees. To the sound of waves. And memories. Roots are important. They define you. That’s why its important to go back to them From time to time. *** आओ, उसे याद करें – जिस नीव पर खड़े.आओ, अब लौट चलें – अपनी जड़ से जुड़ें.                                     Jad Se Judein by Loreal Paris India | For Ma…

Today, my colleague Abdullah shared a video with me – he’s a big fan of Australian television shows and often sends me quirky and funny things to brighten my day.  All of us know of John Lennon’s Imagine. But this will take it to a different level altogether. After you watch this, I promise you will never not think of Emmanuel Kelly, when you hear the following lines: “Imagine there’s no countries It isn’t hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people living life in peace” Like one of the judges said, at the end of the video – a story…

Real Beauty

I’ve never been a huge fan of Dove’s products, save for a body lotion with sparkle in it (Yes, it can make you feel like a Cullen for while), but I’ve always followed their ‘Real Beauty’ social campaign as I knew that Edelman Digital was behind it. But one of their adverts I came across today, made me think about beauty. If you haven’t already seen it – here it is: I know so many people, who – to me are absolutely beautiful. Someone’s got the perfect jawline, the other the most stunning tresses. One of them has a smile that can light up anyone’s day and the other has…

About Today

Today the sun is hidden behind a thick cloud cover. Today I’m thinking of driving away, with the wind in my hair. Today feels like the perfect day to lie in a hammock and sip at pink lemonade. Today, I want to call a friend and tell them I miss them. Today makes me think where I’d go if I could fly. Today I’m dreaming with eyes wide open. Today, Tracy Chapman is making me smile.

Talent lies in the most unapparent places.  Could you imagine that popular Indian advertising jingles such as ‘Washing powder Nirma’ and ‘Vicco Turmeric’ could be songs you’d like to add to your iPod and listen to? This video of Attulya Singh aka Atty was shared virally some years ago and I couldn’t get this boy’s voice out of my head. Never thought that a cover of Govinda – Karisma Kapoor starred ‘Goriya Chura Na Mera Jiya’ would ever be in my favourites. But here it is. Our talented boy has a YouTube stream. Accessible here. Listen and spread the word!

Turn Up The Music

Is there anyone who hasn’t seen the Jill & Kevin wedding video yet?  Now is the time, then. The story will continue afterwards. I was introduced to it during my MBA at SIMC.  I cannot remember what class or who the teacher was, or what was the point of showing it to a bunch of post graduating students. But the song was a revelation! Everyone was nuts over it for a while and I made it a point to download the song, and become a fan of bad-boy Chris Brown. I have this to-do. One day. At some friends’ wedding, I’ll find some people as crazy as I am, and we’ll…

Paradise Falls

I’ve lifted this video and the inspiration to this post off a friend’s blog.   How could I not.   There are love stories and then there are these.   Pixar has and continues to transport us into a world which we might never be able to visit with their imagination and belief in magic.   This part of the 2009 animation movie ‘Up’ is beyond words.   Eight minutes of living a dream. A mere possibilty that perfection might just be a thing of reality.   It reaffirms my belief that when you have the right company, the most traumatic of journeys become easy. There’s someone to watch your back and…

Conquest Of Paradise

A few days ago I was curiously reminded of a video that was most regularly played before guest lectures and important occassions during my post graduation. It was one of those rare five minutes in the college auditorium, where the parade-like music thumped and there was pin-drop silence. I have often noticed that the passion and inspiration that sport brings, are hardly matched by any other. Be it the Indian blockbuster Chak De! India or the more recently discovered Hollywood flick Goal! The Dream Begins, I have been in awe of stories of common people rising up fro the dust and using the strength of their love towards the sport to push…
