One Day…

A toast. To the days when the roof was leaky. The midnight birthday revelries. To the horror that were exams. The peals of laughter at silly jokes at group study sessions. To the dreadful lack of nutrition. The small joys that chicken lollypops could bring. To missing family, but having friends around. The clouds floating through windows. To being angry with everything. The singing aloud while on trips. To not being able … Continue reading “One Day…”

Atta-boy!

Talent lies in the most unapparent places.  Could you imagine that popular Indian advertising jingles such as ‘Washing powder Nirma’ and ‘Vicco Turmeric’ could be songs you’d like to add to your iPod and listen to? This video of Attulya Singh aka Atty was shared virally some years ago and I couldn’t get this boy’s voice out of my head. Never thought that a cover of Govinda – Karisma Kapoor starred ‘Goriya … Continue reading “Atta-boy!”

Jajabor

Meaning wanderer in Assamese, it is quite a fascinating word.  From my brushes with the language, I understood the similarities Assamese has with my mother tongue – Bengali. Then I came across Angaraag Mahanta, better known as Papon – now one of Bollywood’s leading vocalists.  I first heard him sing ‘Jiyein Kyun’ in the absolutely rubbish Bollywood flick – Dum Maaro Dum.  Wondering where he had been hiding all these years, I … Continue reading “Jajabor”

Liebster-ing!

I feel downbeat when I think about why I didn’t join the blog-sphere earlier than I did. In the developing years, it seems to have been so much more fun. So many more people that one could meet through their blogs and several interesting things to talk about and engage with, in this medium. Recently, I was nominated for something called a Liebster Award by Anisha who writes Absolutely Not Sure. (I must … Continue reading “Liebster-ing!”

The Korba Wedding.

The small wonders of life constantly surprise me.  I still smile thinking of how worried I was about moving to Delhi at the end of my post graduation. Little did I know that these would be some of the best years of my life.  Like I always maintain, the people matter most and this post is about one of the most amazing people who I came into close acquaintance with, during … Continue reading “The Korba Wedding.”

Dilli In Transit

Apart from the weddings, this was the part of the trip I was most looking forward to. Never thought I would be this excited to be back in Delhi NCR. My time spent there was the nicest among all the days.  This is what I did: # Got a haricut. At Bella Madonna, Galleria. Loved it.  # Had breakfast by myself at my most favourite place in Gurgaon – Sakley’s … Continue reading “Dilli In Transit”

SwethaBasu

If I were to ever believe that matches were made in heaven, I would always think of these two.  They’re both very different people, yet as similar as can be. The thought of moving to Gurgaon, a few years ago was made a comforting thought because I knew they would be around, in addition to other friends.  And they did just that. Made me feel welcome in their city, gave … Continue reading “SwethaBasu”

Time Freeze

It’s been five months but it feels like I was never gone. The same streets. Broken in the way I had seen them last. The same turquoise walls of House Number 2683. The Delhi winters that I came to fall in love with. After a really beautiful wedding creating an overwhelming number of memories, my mind is in a freeze.
