The Resolute List

It is that time of the year to review last year’s resolution list and see how I’ve done. Referring back to last year’s post: 1. Learn to drive. Check. 2. Meet people, socialize positively. Sort of check. I have made a few really great friends this year. Nothing proactive, though. Nor romantic. 3. Lose weight. Uncheck. Bah, I haven’t even tried this one. To be transferred to the ‘To do’ … Continue reading “The Resolute List” →

Bienvenue!

It seems like only yesterday that I was home, in front of the television, wrapped in winter clothing with a hot pizza and an Absolut – celebrating the end of 2010 and bringing in 2011. The year has somehow flown past and it only recently struck me that I will no longer be able to upload pictures to the Facebook album β€˜2011 – Part Deux’. I’m already facing problems with … Continue reading “Bienvenue!” →

Do you concur?

In a multitude of situations I find myself bewildered by the subject of intellect. Sometimes combined with intelligence and plain taste. On innumerable instances I’m duped by my own inability to judge and refrain from keeping the company of those who clearly do not deserve it. Not to say that they are less intelligent or of a lower intellect – my opinion is just that they are on a different … Continue reading “Do you concur?” →

The last 2011 weekend

There’s an outburst of ‘Our offices are closed for the holidays’ emails – it’s definitely that time of the year. Even though I didnt get a tree, a present or even a cake, this weekend was happy and full of people and a few of my favourite movies on television. Friday evening began with meeting Pisho, who was here all week for the Ranji trophy match which his team won. … Continue reading “The last 2011 weekend” →

Distress Call!

The only emotion I constantly feel is boredom. My iPod recently broke down. I’m left with only the music on the BlackBerry. I simply cannot concentrate on anything. Haven’t finished a book in forever. The MasterChef series are ending! I’m tired of eating bread all the time. I would kill for a phulka and some anda bhurji. The greys seem to be on an increasing graph. It feels like its … Continue reading “Distress Call!” →

Tag-it!

I imagine these tag-posts were a rage when blogging was in its teenage years. I was not a part of the times, hence in a state of utter boredom, deriving smiles from this one I picked from one of my favourite blogs – Fuchsia. 1. What is your current obsession?Shankar Tucker! I cannot get enough of his music. 2. What are you wearing today?Buddh International Circuit t-shirt and jeans. 3. … Continue reading “Tag-it!” →

Santa and the 80’s

The holiday spirit has set in at work. Our workstations now sport a mini Christmas tree, the reception and meeting rooms are alight. Last Friday the major action was around the office year-end party and Secret Santa. I was given a beautiful potted bamboo shoot plant and I had no idea all through the weekend who my Secret Santa was. Warming up to surprises as well, it seems πŸ™‚ The … Continue reading “Santa and the 80’s” →

Bomb(s)-A(w)ay?

Mumbai became one of the 2011 destinations this month as I travelled for one of my most mundane yet heavy revenue earning clients. I’ve never really warmed up to the city, yet I thought I should give it another chance. By the end of two nights, I was blessing the lord to be able to return to Gurgaon and my beautiful office. One might ask why – to be honest, … Continue reading “Bomb(s)-A(w)ay?” →

It’s a first!

Earlier into the year, I had written about the desire for lone travelling and mentioned that the solitude, in some cases was one of my biggest fears. Although I enjoy my alone time immensely and quite often crave for more, watching a movie in a theatre alone has been something I was yet to tread on. I have always dreaded it thinking that it was the sort of thing loners … Continue reading “It’s a first!” →

The Sound of Music

I’ve been one of the fortunate few in the world whose lives have been almost always inspired by music. Being a single-child in a Bengali household, music is something one cannot escape from – it is crucial to be trained in vocals or an Indian classical instrument and to display one’s ‘talent’ on every visit to the motherland. I distinctly remember returning from school in the scorching middle-east sun in … Continue reading “The Sound of Music” →
